Spectra and Giflor Plastic Caps win Worldstar Packaging Awards!
Pubblicato il 20 Giugno 2017
The event was organised by the World Packaging Organization and is regarded as one of the most important packaging competitions in the world with over 400 people attending the presentation gala dinner.
Giflor’s art. 844 Eco low profile bi-colour flip-top cap, which was coupled in the UK with Spectra’s 200ml Burano (Ref: 6089), was the winner in the fiercely competitive Health and Beauty category, beating a formidable list of fellow nominees.
Representatives from 23 packaging associations (including members of the WPO) judged 291 packaging projects from 35 countries, with the eventual winners being a small set of the initial award respondents.
Giflor’s art. 844 is a radiant bi-color lightweight flip-top cap, designed to maximize the product’s shelf impact with an elegant design and a customisable combination of colours to attract consumer attention.
50% less use of materials over conventional standard oval closures, the caps’ extremely lightweight body provides a sustainable solution for customers looking to lower CO2 emissions and reduce raw material consumption. The cap’s low profile size also allows double quantity of caps per pallet, thus reducing transport and storage costs.
A proud Maximiliano Bettini, Sales Manager at Giflor, commented, “The award is true recognition of our innovative approach to providing cutting edge closure solutions. We are extremely proud to have won this well renowned packaging accolade”.
As well as the health and beauty section at the awards ceremony, other categories included, Beverages, Electronics, Food, Household, Luxury, Medical and Pharmaceutical, Other, Point of Sale and Transit. There were also special categories, including the President’s Award, Sustainability, Marketing and the new award for Packaging that Saves Food.
According to the official WorldStar site, the Eco low profile bi-color flip-top cap for bottles, item 844, was selected because “It maximizes the product’s shelf impact with an elegant design and a wonderful customizable combination of hues that catches the consumer’s eye”. The concept was also described as “the perfect match between ethic and aesthetic: a catchy and colorful solution but, simultaneously, really sustainable!”
Jonathan Powell, Sales Director at Spectra added “We are very happy for Giflor and their well-deserved award success. The 844 low profile closure is a fine example of a component that not only looks great and performs very well, but is also importantly sustainable and lightweight, a huge well done from Spectra Packaging”.
As well as their success with the art. 844 Eco low profile bi-colour flip-top cap, Giflor’s Eco low profile flip-top cap for tubes was also a winner in the Health and Beauty category.
